Senior tight end Tony Moeaki was not on Iowa’s depth chart released Monday for the Indiana game this weekend.
Moeaki suffered a hamstring strain during the first half of the Hawkeyes’ loss at Michigan State over the weekend.
Talk about a guy with tough luck. Moeaki missed the last eight games of last year after dislocating his elbow and breaking his wrist. Then, right when he was back healthy, he fractured his foot in camp in August. Then, he suffered a concussion against Iowa State. Now, a hamstring.
Moeaki was rated as the top tight end in the nation when he came out of high school in 2005. He has twice been named to the Mackey Award watch list based solely on his potential. And the potential is there. He torched Syracuse last year for eight catches, 112 yards and three touchdowns. That was supposed to be the beginning. Instead, it was the last time he really was relevant in Iowa’s offense.
