Greene’s TD run ‘top play’

For those of you who didn’t catch ESPN’s Sports Center tonight, Shonn Greene’s second touchdown run, the 34-yarder in the second quarter of Iowa’s 38-16 win over Wisconsin, the one where he spun out of one tackle and then high-stepped out of another on his way to the end zone, was named today’s top play.

I have to agree.

I backed it up and watched it again and again, and each time, I was still surprised Greene was able to get out of both of those tackles and go in for the score. I think you’re going to start hearing his name a lot more from the national media. Not only is he a great back, but he’s a great story, what with having gone the prep school route and then having to go to a juco last year. To come back the way he has says a lot about his character.

My question for you is: Is Greene a Heisman contender?

Sound off. Let me know.

Absolutely, but the national media won’t notice because he hasn’t been hyped all year and the Hawks have 3 losses. It’s for the nation’s most outstanding football player but you have to be on one of the top teams to get serious consideration. It’s too bad, but maybe if he can keep up the pace (and he just seems to be getting better) and can put 100 plus on Penn State he might get some votes. Next year he would be a front runner but the rumors seem to be that he will go to the NFL. I was fortunate enough to make it back to the Wisconsin game Saturday and have to say that he is even more impressive in person.
