Things you’ll see in the Orange Bowl

What can we expect to see Tuesday night in the Orange Bowl? A few thoughts:

– Georgia Tech typically starts fast and Iowa usually has not, and it’s hard to see either of those trends changing in this game. I think it will take the Hawkeyes some time to adjust to the speed of the Tech option but I think they will eventually adjust. My predicted halftime score is: Tech 17, Iowa 6.

– Although the running attack is going to be a big part of the Iowa offense – Georgia Tech looked especially vulnerable in to the run in the last few games – I think we could see Iowa come out throwing and throwing deep, possibly even on the first play.

– Adam Robinson’s career high in rushing yardage is 109 yards against Michigan State. If he’s as healthy as Kirk Ferentz has led us to believe, he tops that in this game.

– If you’ve enjoyed having Bryan Bulaga and Amari Spievey play for the Hawkeyes, take a long, last look this game. It should be the last time you’ll see either of them. I think they’re both turning pro early.

– Final score: Iowa 27-24. After adjusting to that early Georgia Tech offense, the Hawkeyes find their timing on both sides of the ball in the second half.

Got this all wrong didn’t you. Wegner is probally the better back, not alot of people knew he had a broken rib on his back side and a fractured hand at the end of the regular season. He spun out of tackles early on and wasn’t able to the last three games. If you watched this kid in high school he doesn’t fumble, again a injury played a role the time he did this year. I believe only one leaves early for the draft, but then again maybe they both come back in the hunt for a run at national championship. It would be very possible for them to build on this given what they have coming back. Everyone beats down the big ten as slow, but IOWA looks to be anything but.

Yes Doxsie you were very wrong about this and i HOPE you are wrong about our guys going pro….I too had my feelings that GT would come out quick but with arguably the best front 7 in all of college football, there was no way i was going to give the bumble bees an 11 point lead going into half time! Stanzi’s timing could have been off a bit because of the layoff but that kid was as focused as ive ever seen him and the layoff probably only helped him. I hate saying what if, but it would have been really nice to see him finish off the NW game and play the entire OSU game and maybe a national title…..I wonder, already if everybody comes back, what we’ll be ranked coming into next year???
